Wow! I cannot believe it (well, I can, but I cannot at the same time), we are engaged! It’s so crazy to say, and we are both so extremely excited and blessed.
We got engaged on February 1, 2020. The day started out completely normal, you know Dunkin’ donuts, Gossip Girl and midday naps.
I woke up to Damon saying that we should go out to dinner and him showing me a few restaurant ideas for us to go to. We quickly decided on Seasons 52 and we got ready for our spontaneous dinner date.
Once we both got dress, we started on our way to the restaurant, but right before we got out of the neighborhood… Damon handed me a blindfold and told me to put it on. That moment made my heart sink and put butterflies in my tummy. This. Was. It!
We drove for what felt like 30 minutes, but in actuality it probably wasn’t more than 10 minutes (I shouldn’t have had that second glass of wine while I was getting ready).
Once we got there, he got out the car and told me to take off my blind fold. I honestly don’t remember much after what happened, so thank God Ashley, my younger sister, got most of it on tape for us. All I remember was this beautiful set up near the water and Damon saying, “I should have practiced this more…”
After he proposed, we let the moment sink in for a few moments, took some pictures with my sister who came out of complete no where, then got back in the car to actually head to our dinner reservation.
The entire car ride was just about completely silent as I was in complete shock that this man was soon to be my husband! I might have asked a few questions on how do we share this with our family, but he kept his answers pretty brief. Little did I know that he had a whole other surprise set up for me.
Once we arrived at the restaurant, everything seemed so normal. He walked up, the hostess greeted us and told us that our table will be ready in just a minute. Soon enough another hostess grabbed a few menus and walked us back to our table. To my surprise, both of our families were in the back room of the restaurant waiting to share this special moment with us.
I am so thankful for everyone that was a part of this special day, and especially excited to begin this next chapter with my fiance!
So what’s next?
Quick answer is that we are enjoying this stage and slowly beginning our wedding planning.
I cannot wait to share this journey with you all, check back often.
