It is so crazy that Damon and I had the opportunity to celebrate our one year wedding anniversary in Greece. So, here is the ultimate Mykonos Greece travel guide! In this Greece blog series, I’ll be sharing all of our Mykonos travel tips, things you should know before you go, our itinerary from all of the locations, and even some my favorite outfits from the trip. What To Know Before Traveling to Mykonos
Getting There
There are two ways that one could get to Mykonos, either by plane or sea. For this trip we opted to fly straight to Mykonos after landing in Athens. We picked Sky Express as our airline. It’s a regional planes typically that go to Mykonos, so expect a smaller plane. It was a quick 50 minute flight from Athens and we then had our hotel pick us up from the airport. Overall, super easy process.
The second option is to arrive by ferry. It all depends on where you are traveling from. If the ferry is over 3.5 hours I would definitely suggest flying, as you’ll spend a lot of time on the water verses on the beautiful Greek Islands.
When to Travel
We traveled to Greece during the last weekend of September. We were right in between high season and low season. Depending on your budget and goals for the trip, that will really decide when you should travel. During Peak Season (typically late April – September) expect significantly higher rater on the islands, so many tourist traveling and the best summer weather. When traveling during the low season, expect much lower rater, significantly fewer people traveling and fairly cool weather.
Where We Stayed
We stayed Katikies Mykonos for three nights. We originally booked the Junior Suite with Open Air Jetted Tub, but upon arrival, the hotel shared with us that they upgraded us to the Superior Suite with Open Air Jetted Tub. I literally could not recommend this resort enough. A little pricey, but the service and view made it all worth it!

Important Things to Pack
Welp, Mykonos is definitely pricey, so don’t forget to bring a nice healthy wallet. Evening can also get a little chilly with breezes from the water, so don’t forget a light jacket. And also, if you are traveling from the states, pack your outlet convertors. These are my absolute favorite to travel with.
Mykonos Greece Travel Guide – The Itinerary
Day 1
1:30pm – Arrive to Mykonos Airport
We traveled to Mykonos by air and arrived at the Mykonos airport.
1:50pm – Private Transportation to Katikies Hotel
Pro Tip: Schedule transfers if you can with your hotel. There are only 30 taxis on the island (and no uber/lyft), so that makes getting a taxi such a challenge. Some hotels do offer free transfers to/from airport and the port. Ours didn’t, but it was super simple to arrange. Our hotel did also offer transfer services to where ever we needed/wanted to go on the island for anywhere from 40-60 Euros round trip.
4:00pm – Spa Service at Katikies Hotel
As part of our hotel reservation, we also booked spa services. WOW! I didn’t know how necessary massages and facials were after nearly 20+ hours of travel. The spa was amazing, we got a 90-min hot stone massage, a 30-min scrub and 30-min facial.
8:45pm – Dinner at Beefbar Mykonos
We we still quite tired after our travels, so we didn’t make any formal dinner reservations. We ended up going across the street for dinner. This gave us our first taste to how expensive Mykonos was. Food was decent, but oddly they didn’t have any beef?
Day 2
9:00am – Breakfast at the Hotel
Breakfast is included in your stay, so always a win! We ate a little of everything and it was delicious and with a view!
11:30am – Toured Mykonos Town
After breakfast we took a transfer to Mykonos town. The ride was only approx. 10 minutes from the hotel. Mykonos town lives up to all of the photos. We took so me time to walk the streets, check out the windmill and shop a little.
1:30pm – Grabbed Drinks at Scarpa in Little Italy
Down in Mykonos Town is an alley called Little Italy, they have a ton of bars and restaurants that sits right on the water. Scapra offered great cocktails and an amazing view.
3:00pm – Had Lunch at Lotus Resto & Bar
After cocktails and exploring we sought after a highly recommending restaurant called Lotus. It was absolutely stunning, service was great, and food was amazing. Damon ordered some decked out burger and I got a salmon pasta. We paired that with some fun (and delicious) cocktails and a great hookah.
8:30pm – Dinner at Scorpios
We decided to try one of beach club restaurants for dinner. Do be sure to make reservations way ahead of time. The restaurant was packed but offered such a fun ambiance and vibe. After dinner we walked over to the amphitheater club area enjoyed a drink people watched for a bit.
Day 3
9:00am – Breakfast at the Hotel
10:45am – Beach Club Reservations at Principote
We set out to try one of the most popular beach clubs in Mykonos. We made day bed reservations a week or two ahead of our desired date and we were sure to get there early as lines can get long and the better day best are given out first. The beach club was stunning, but have your wallet ready! We easily spent 500-600 euros for our daybeds, bottle of white wine, hookah for an hour (great hookah, but the time limit was quite unfortunate) and a few small sushi bites.
9:00pm – Dinner at Meraki in Cavo Tagoo
For our final night, we made reservations at Meraki at Cavo Tagoo. This hotel is one of the most iconic on the island, known for its cave pool, and infinity resort pool. The restaurant did not disappoint! The octopus was a dream, some of the best I’ve ever had. We then finished the night with a nightcap on the beds on top of the resort infinity pool.
Day 4 – Leaving Mykonos
9:00am – Breakfast at the Hotel
11:30am – Private Transfer to Mykonos Port
1:00pm – Ferry to Santorini
We opted to take a Ferry to Santorini as it was only a few hours of a transfer and we thought the experience would be fun. We ended up booking through SeaJets and booked the premium seats. Premium seats were definitely worth the upgrade if you have a few hours worth of a trip. The rest of the boat cabin is set up like airplane seats.
